After all, Directed by Philipp von Werther
(Germany) This movie answers all those questions, which cannot be answered by anyone except by the One, who doesn’t care to do so. We are God’s favorite creation, his best invention, even equal to him. This movie takes us on an endless journey from Micro – to Macrocosms. No matter how big we believe ourselves to be, there is always something bigger, which rules us, and which also may be ruled by something even more powerful. But what happens, if even the biggest one overrates himself?
This movie is a no budget production. All live action was shot using a Mini DV Camera. We used a variety of traditional animation techniques (stop motion animation using miniature sets and clay models), live action footage (blue-/and greenscreen) and computer animation. Our goal was to archieve a unique, quite dirty and analogue look. It shouldnīt look too realistic, but charming. Therefore we didnīt use any textures or 3 D -Models. We created compostions of 2D-Images and live action footage (matte painting) and aranged them as layers in a 3D-Space. After the “world” was created, we “shot” the movie using a virtual camera, which enabled us to move freely in the compositio
