Experimental Film Showcase

*Two hours full of some of the best experimentals we have seen, many only 1-3 minutes long!

IFCT showcases a wide range of new cutting-edge experimental films, many of which have never before been presented in the United States. The films range from visually rich and dynamic and though-provoking to very short 1-3 minute strikingly intense experimental cinema.

Sitcom with Artists like You and Me Directed by Duo van der Mixt (Cristian Rusu & Mihai Pop) Romania

The film (experimental documentary) consists of a series of 4 sitcoms featuring 4 visual artists of both genders and of different generations. The main idea of the film is the bantering: any artist can be bantered, without any hard feelings. The film is a barefaced trenchant comment on the relation and distance between the artists (seen as part of the elite) and the audience.

Blue Box Berlin Directed by Nina Hoffman

exp

Blue Box Berlin turns the city into a movie set, reminiscent to the Hollywood studios that seamlessly imitated houses and landscapes. The piece chronicles the current marketing strategies of large corporations that create the illusion that one can be in London, Paris and Bratislava all at the same time with a new hairstyle and a new car. These advertisements bring globalism directly to Berlin in the form of life sized posters meant to represent a projection of our dreams and desires. Hence people become actors and the city is a playground. In addition to prompting us to buy, these advertisements literally become a perfect fictional background.
